Reedsetup.com was started by oboist Rixon Thomas in 2015. “I wanted to try something new with my reeds, but rather than use the method of ‘trial and error’ I looked online to see if there was a place I could see what other oboists had tried. When I couldn’t find what I was looking for, I sold my old English Horn to help pay for the development of this site. My hope is that this data base will be used to educate and inspire reed makers, but also to erode some of the mystery surrounding reeds. There’s no perfect reed…just what works best for you”
